With a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the Carlson School of Management and a distinguished career as a Top Sales Professional, Jeremy brings a unique combination of expertise, strategy, and results-driven leadership to Starting Point Capital. His ability to connect with investors and deliver on the company’s vision sets him apart in the field.

Real estate investing requires confidence in the sponsor’s competence, credibility, and integrity. Sponsors must have years of experience to identify lucrative opportunities, the resourcefulness to navigate challenges, and the integrity to uphold their fiduciary responsibilities. Jeremy exemplifies these qualities, with extensive experience as both an active and passive investor.

Currently, Jeremy is a Limited Partner in over 6,500 multifamily doors, actively involved in 50+ passive real estate deals, and a passive equity investor in over $1 billion of assets under management. His breadth of experience underscores his commitment to creating wealth and opportunity for his investors.

Jeremy lives in Lake Elmo, MN, with his wife Marlene, their four children, and their dog Bosco. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, traveling, engaging in thought-provoking conversations, staying active, and enjoying date nights with Marlene.

Jerry Smith is a proven leader in the payments industry with nearly three decades of experience driving growth, building teams, and delivering exceptional client value. Over the course of his career, Jerry has established himself as a results-oriented executive known for his strategic vision, operational excellence, and ability to create long-term partnerships.

Throughout his career in payments, Jerry has received numerous awards recognizing his outstanding performance and leadership. A multi-year President’s Club recipient — an honor reserved for the top sales professionals — he has consistently exceeded growth goals and contributed to the sustained success of every organization he’s been part of.

Most recently, Jerry successfully sold his payments business, marking a milestone achievement that reflects both his entrepreneurial spirit and deep understanding of the financial services landscape. His success stems from a commitment to innovation, integrity, and delivering measurable value to clients and partners alike.

In addition to his accomplishments in payments, Jerry has held his real estate license since 2001. Over the past two decades, he has closed hundreds of transactions and built a strong portfolio as an active real estate investor. His diverse background in both payments and real estate gives him a unique perspective on market trends, investment strategy, and business development.

Nathan Wagner is a Partner at Starting Point Capital and a sales professional in the Human Capital Management industry, directly responsible for more than $100M to his companies’ top line revenue.

With an eye toward stewarding his assets wisely and planning for his family’s future, he was faced with the dilemma of pouring his hard-earned W2 income into either the turbulent stock market with marginal gains or considering real estate investing. Through careful analysis, the undeniable benefits of the latter became abundantly clear - and he jumped in - as had many of his peers before him. However, unlike his peers who chose the Active real estate route by becoming landlords and property managers with what would become to them a “second full time job,” he chose the Passive route, affording him the benefits of multi-family real estate investing without the massive time suck and stressors that an active landlord must endure. While his friends spend many nights and weekends fixing appliances, calling pest control or collecting rent, he has the freedom as a Limited Partner to spend his time in ways that he enjoys and which benefit those he cares for. 

With that time he is an avid aviator, goes on adventures with his wife and 4 kids, and mentors the next generation of young men and women through his church. He measures himself not on his net worth, but on the lasting personal impact he can have on other people’s lives. His excess time and financial freedom afford him this incredibly opportunity.

Marlene Dyer serves as the Director of Business Operations for Starting Point Capital. Marlene holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota. Before joining Starting Point Capital, she taught social studies, refining her communication and leadership skills.

Marlene is a dedicated wife and a homeschooling mother of four, actively supporting her children's sports and activities. In her rare free moments, Marlene enjoys date night, travel, reading, and quality time with friends.
